Tipped to jacket front flap is a typed letter on Gelett Burgess' stationary dated April 25th, 1923 signed by the author: "My dear Marthe; So glad to hear a word from you but why so brief? So glad, too, you liked my 'Educated Heart.' If you want a laugh, read the American Magazine this month (May issue) and if you want to know what kind of a girl I married, get McClure's for March and read 'Eleanor, the Second Hand' by Estelle Loomis. / P.G. appeared here - - disappeared, I know not where or why. I am wondering about you. What has time done to you? Yours always, [signed] Gelette." Regarding those named in the letter, Marthe appeantly was an old friend. Estelle Loomis was Burgess' wife. Could "P.G." refer to P.G. Wodehouse?
