One of the most popular San Francisco restaurants of the mid twentieth century. Armenian immigrant George Mardikian (1903-1977) opened "Omar Khayyam's" in 1938 at 200 Powell St. where it enjoyed the patronage of locals and tourists until it was destroyed by fire in 1980. Mardikian had previously run a lunch counter of the same name in Fresno. This copy signed by the author on front free endpaper below a printed recipe for the restaurant's signature cocktail "Omar's Delight" with cover panel titled "The Cat's Out of the Bag" with picture of George Herriman's "Krazy Kat." Fixed endaper with mounted presentation plate "Compliments of Morgan and Sampson to Sam Sawelson."
