The Order of the Eastern Star is a branch of the Masonic order having its origins in France in the early 18th century with the Androgynous (or Adoptive) lodges, which accepted both male and female members. This volume inscribed to "Sister Alice E. Parkhurst, retiring Worthy Matron of Beckwith Star Chapter No. 201, Beckwith, California" and is signed by 38 Chapter members.
