An odd little tale of a prince in a fairy story who falls in love with a young lady in the real world. Edward Perry Warren (American, 1860-1828) was the Harvard and Oxford-educated classicist who in 1888 founded the "Lewes House Brotherhood" of male aesthetes. Among his published works was the 3-volume "A Defense of Uranian Love" - advocating homosexual relations between men and boys. Warren was an extremely important art collector, focusing primarily on classical Greek and Roman works; contributing lavishly to the collections of the Boston Museum and the Metropolitan Museum in New York. Arthur Joseph Gaskin (English, 1862-1928), painter, illustrator, designer. Beginning in 1885 he was on the teaching staff of the Birmingham School of Art and in the 1890s produced woodcuts for William Morris's Kelmscott Press. This volume printed by D. B. Updike at the Merrymount Press in an edition of 350 copies (300 for sale), this #151.
