The "Mricchakatika" - in English "The Little Clay Cart" is attributed to the classical Indian dramatist Sudraka, of whom very little is known. In the play itself, he is identified as a king, who lived for over one hundred years. The principal characters of the play are Carudatta, a penniless Brahmin; Vasantasena, a wealthy courtesan; and the brahmin thief Carvilaka.
