Most of the content is a repeat of the first edition, though entirely re-set and with many formatting changes. The primary purpose for this revised edition appears to be to record the creation of a "State Board of Horticultural Commissiors." This new body was voted into being at a special meeting of the Board of Viticultural Commissioners held on March 10, 1881 (see p. 167). The roster of officers and members of the State Board of Horticultural Commissioners appears on page (4). Entirely new material is contained within the "Addenda" on pages 177-192, including a Supplementary Report by Charles A. Wetmore, Vice-President Treasurer and Commissioner for the Napa District. The Addenda also includes in Appendix I a reproduction of Agostin Haraszthy's catalogue of some 492 varieties of vines and trees imported from Europe and elsewhere in 1861 and offered for sale at his Buena Vista Ranch in Sonoma. Scarce. OCLC/Worldcat finds only 2 entries for this revised edition, though as described these apparently do not include the Addenda. Gabler (2nd ed.) p. 70; Amerine & Borg 666. NB: This title is not to be confused with the "First Annual Report of the Chief Executive Officer of the Board of State Viticultural Commissioners for the Year 1881" which was published in 1882.
