Author Walter Flavius McCaleb (1873-1967) was a prolific author of books on US history, the Southwest, and economics, et al. In his foreword to "Happy" he recounts in beautiful prose a period of his life when "Years ago, banished into the far Rio Grande region, I became a keeper of bees" and was inspired to write this story.
