Item #21190 THE SON OF THE WOLF. Jack London.

THE SON OF THE WOLF.

Boston and NY: Houghton, Mifflin and Company, (1900). Early reprint (unrecorded). Hardcover. Bright green pictorial cloth with title and illustration of trapper and dog outlined in cream; octavo; (252) pp followed by blank leaf. Frontispiece by Maynard Dixon. Moderate rubbing to cover design, minor wear to edges of covers, but very good. Very good. Item #21190

Collation differs from the 3 printings of the first edition described in BAL. This printing has the most regular collation with all gatherings in 8s; the last page of text independent of the last gathering and contiguous with the final blank leaf. Cover design is the same as BAL first edition, third printing "new style" binding though that issue has the title blocked in red on the front cover. The ampersand in the publisher's imprint at foot of spine is a typographic oddity bearing little resemblance to an actual ampersand. BAL 11869; Sisson/Martens page 2.

Price: $450.00
