Father Pedro Font of the Franciscan mission at Sonora, Mexico accompanied the intrepid Captain Juan Bautista de Anza on his second expedition from Sonora to Upper California in 1775-1776. Font's skills as a cartographer were proven on the journey and his highly detailed and readable diary includes facsimiles of some of the maps drawn from his observations and tabulations. Bolton's translation was originally published in 1930 as Volume IV of "Anza's California Expeditions." This 1933 edition is the second separate printing of the work. Howes B-585.
