John Woodhouse Audubon (1812-1862) was the son of the famous ornithologist John James Audubon. Woodhouse worked with his father on both the Bird Porfolio and the Quadrupeds, and was himself responsible for nearly half the drawings for the Quadrupeds when his father's illness rendered him incapable of completing the project. The present volume reproduces pencil drawings and watercolors from the sketchbook he created during an overland expedition to California via Mexico. The originals are in the Southwest Museum. Printed by the Grabhorn Press in an edition of 400 copies.
