Erich (or Erik) Pontoppidan (1698-1764). Danish bishop, preacher, writer, antiquary. Author of several influential religious works (he was a defender of the Pietists), as well as important works of Scandinavian history and geography, and a novel - "Menoza." This copy with the bookplate of Danish banker and famed collector F. S. (Frederik Siegfred) Bangs (1810-1889) affixed to front pastedown. Old ink inscription written across bookplate: "Kristelig Herberger Bibliothek No. 14. H. S. Dahlstrom."
