Boards scuffed and worn, joints splitting, cracking to paper over spine, bookplate to pastedown of first volume, scattered foxing, stain to upper spine corner of last 20 or so pages in 4th volume. The masterwork of the Spanish priest and historian Juan Antonio Llorente (1756-1823). At time of publication Llorente had been living in France for a number of years - having identified with the French (Bonaparte) when the alliance between Spain and France collapsed in 1808.
