Thomas Halyburton (1674-1712) was a Scottish divine of the Church of Scotland and Professor of Divinity at the University of St. Andrew. This, his first publshed work, is a concerted attack on the idea of natural religion as propounded by the Deists, particularly in the influential writings of Lord Edward Herbert (1581-1648). In four sections separately paginated: Preface signed: Ja. Hog.; "Oratio inauguralis habita Andreapoli, .. " by Archibald Pitcairne with a separate titlepage.
