House of Representatives. Ex. Doc. 290, 43d Cong, 1st Session. Commissioned by President Ulysses S. Grant, this was the first significant study of water resources and irrigation in California and marks the beginning of the Army Corps of Engineers' role in water management in the state. The large map (35.75 x 25 inches) of the surveyed area (from Pacific coast and Nevada border and just south of Bakersfield to Lassen Peak) is quite detailed and printed in 4 colors. Scarce.
